Traps for Plumbing

Listed below is a selection of the various traps that are used in the domestic plumbing trade and how they are used. The Bottle-Trap: A very good trap but they are likely to block very easily, with their size or width can sometimes stop them being fitted pedestals. There is something called a mini bottle trap that will sort the problem. There are also traps with an adjustable height ability that is great should the waste move out through the wall. Bounds Green Plumbers use all types of fittings. The P-Trap:A very adjustable trap. They are fitted with a height adjustment feature, which is fine should you be installing a new basin into the old position and are having trouble lining up the waste pipes. The Straight-through Trap:This trap is of a great design and has a configuration that allows the waste to run down a pathway inside its own body. The trap is not too quickly accessible in an emergency like some others. A Bounds Green Plumber fits this and all other types of trap. The Self-Sealing:This type is really very similar to an S-trap with regards to its plus and minus points, however they will not lose the seal. Great if it were fitted to a basin that will not be working for quite a length of time. This trap is ok to hand tighten, but a quick ? of a turn using some pump pliers will make sure if needed. You should never start to tighten with pliers because the thread (plastic) of the trap can be very easily chewed by the brass on the threaded waste. If this is hard to tighten, then you are probably cross threading it.The S-Trap:Well used and is the trap of choice if the pipework comes up from the floor underneath. This trap is easily adjusted to fit the pipework.
