How to Install a P-Trap

A P-Trap is an effective upgrade that any bathroom needs to hold in water more efficiently and prevent clogs in the drain. The installation of a P-trap is moderately difficult so almost anyone can perform this task at home. However, if you are worried about doing damage to your plumbing system, call Plumbers Bounds Green who will assist you in any way. However, you will need a day or two to complete the project. Perform the following steps to successfully replace your bathtub with a P-Trap. Step 1: You will want to cut the floor and make sure there is enough room to replace and install the P-trap. Make sure there is enough room around the drain so you can easily access where the P-trap has to be connected on the drain.Step 2: Measure the cutting plywood. Use a circular saw to cut the plywood after marking where you want to make the cuts. Cut four drains around the drain using a plunge cut. Then cut the plywood board with a reciprocating saw and pry up the pieces of plywood to remove them from the drain. Step 3: Use a reducer to change the drain line to a 2 inch drain. Apply some ABS glue to the pieces so they are secured. Place the P-trap on top of the drain so there are not any problems caused when the bathtub is used. Step 4: Installation. Measure the length from the P-trap to the top hole with the plywood. The P-trap should be above the plywood. Screw the plywood to the floor and into the floor joists. Then attach the drain to the P-trap. If you need any assistance installing a P-trap or have any other plumbing projects which include repairs, heating and appliance installation, be sure to contact Plumbers Bounds Green.
